Academy Physical Performance Coach
Exciting opportunity for an ambitious Physical Performance Coach to play a pivotal role in the athletic development of our Academy players within the Professional Development Phase.
The Role
We are looking for an Academy Physical Performance Coach to be responsible for the athletic development of players within the Professional Development Phase (PDP), including diligently planning, delivering, and evaluating both on-pitch and gym based athletic development.
In this exciting role, you'll be entrusted to optimise player potential by enhancing availability, maximising physical performance, and mitigating the risk of injury; you'll be imbedded in a multidisciplinary team and will collaborate with a multitude of colleagues to optimise health, physical capacity and on-pitch application of our Academy players.

Your day-to-day
Oversee and track key preparations - you'll design and lead individual and team pre-training preparation and you'll individualise and periodise gym programming, as well as track and monitor gym exposure and volume loads
Prioritise physical profiling and athletic development - you'll eagerly plan, conduct and report on physical profiling, and you will periodise, prepare and deliver on on-pitch athletic development
Operate as a key part of a multidisciplinary team - you will collaborate with colleagues to develop physical profiles and individual development plans (IDPs)
Provide vital support on matchdays - you'll take pride in leading our strength and conditioning matchday provision
Assist with critical reviews and sessions - you will contribute to micro, meso, and macrocycle reviews and you'll support with neuromuscular fatigue monitoring, and you will deliver recovery sessions and assist with rehabilitation when requested
Demonstrate a forward thinking mindset - you will proactively stay up to date with best practices in athletic development, youth-to-senior transitions, injury prevention and applied performance data analytics to support continuous program evolution through ongoing research and development
Act as an ambassador for our club - you'll adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to our club and its operations, and you will proudly maintain our club standards in line with the code of conduct, ensuring compliance to safeguarding, health & safety and equal opportunity
What we are looking for
Extensive experience within elite football - you're equipped with vast experience working in academy football at an elite level and a proven track record of implementing athletic development services in an elite sport setting
Credible expertise - you hold an MSc in Strength and Conditioning (or equivalent) and you have UKSCA accreditation
Experience working as a specialist within a multidisciplinary team - you're proud of your history of playing an impactful role within diverse performance support teams
Best-in-class communication skills - you're easily able to build professional relationships to influence and motivate change and you can communicate complex information in a simple and relevant way
Exceptional team player - you can integrate and collaborate in a team environment and you act with humility, discipline and respect
Forward-thinking mindset - you demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to respond to the demands of elite football and you take a proactive and versatile approach to achieving successful outcomes
Exceptional attention to detail and professionalism - you are highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive in managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously and you're skilled in producing clear, concise reports and maintaining professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
