Andrew's Incredible Career Journey

-
I love that I get to work within my two passions. Arsenal and Technology. The fact that I get to support the club’s technology and how important it impact’s across the board makes me very proud to be able to do what I do.

My favourite part about working for Arsenal would have matchdays. The thrill, buzz and manic of matchday is indescribable until you have experienced one. The build-up is so intense, it makes all of your input worthwhile when you see the end result.
What does your job at Arsenal involve?
I’m the IT Service Desk Team Lead at Highbury Campus. We support everything from making sure fans are able to enter the stadium, customers can make purchases in our stores, people can connect to WIFI and many more technologies within the club.
How did you get into working in IT?
I transitioned from the retail department back 2014 to the IT ServiceDesk. It was a nervous switch as I didn’t have any qualifications in Technology as I decided not to go to university. I’ve always had an interest in Technology since the age of 6, so when the opportunity became available, I jumped at the chance.
Is Arsenal your first job in sport, if not, what industry did you work in previously?
Arsenal is actually my FIRST JOB. I started at the club when I was 16, it’s the only thing I know! I started off in Retail working in the Arsenal World of Sport store in Finsbury Park and finishing in our Brent Cross store, before making the transition Highbury House to work in IT.
Tell us about any secret perks of working at Arsenal?!
A perk I’ve had in the past is being flown out to Paris for the UEFA Champions League final with the rest of club, visiting Disneyland Paris and watching Arsenal vs Barcelona. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to win, but it’s a memory that I will forever cherish.
And finally…. Why Arsenal?!
I’ve been at the club for over 20 years, I’ve grown up here. It always makes me proud to say where I work. I always see a glee of excitement from people.
All I can say is that at the end of the day it’s …The Arsenal.
