Life at Arsenal For Bea
Why did you want to work with us at Arsenal and how did you apply/find your role?
I used to play football as a kid, and it was always my dream to play for a club. Unfortunately, I had a knee injury at 16 that didn’t heal properly, and that dream came to an end. I'm a Deportivo de La Coruña fan, and before joining the club, my last Champions League memory was the semifinal against Porto. I never thought I’d experience something like that again - until last season's match against PSG. It truly moved me and made me realise that the little girl who used to play football in the park, pretending to be Henry and Bergkamp, had achieved her dream.
I saw Dave’s post and the job description on LinkedIn and I applied straight away.
Tell us what a typical day looks like in your role?
We start the day with a team meeting to discuss what we did the day before and what we’re planning to do that day. After that, no two days are the same.
Our manager meets with stakeholders at least once a week to understand how we can support them. Usually, they request new features, so I jump into Figma to design them. Once the design is ready, I share it with them and make any necessary changes based on their feedback.
When the feature is finalised, I walk the Developers through how it works so they can work their magic and bring it to life!
What's your favourite thing about your role?
What I enjoy most is working with my team and knowing that what we do has a direct impact. We all love supporting Renée’s, Mikel’s, and Andrea’s teams as well as the entire Academy. In the end, no matter how complex the features are, we all know that if it’s doable, we’ll find a way to help them.
What are the three main skills needed to be a UI/UX Designer at Arsenal?
Having a really solid understanding of UX is important, as some features can be complex from a user experience perspective. It's also essential to be creative, adaptable, and a strong team player.
