Life at Arsenal For Ken
Why did you want to work with us at Arsenal and how did you apply/find your role?
Arsenal has always stood out to me as a football club that does things the right way. It’s embedded into the north London community where I live, and the global supporter base are so passionate about the club. Commercially, the partnerships that the club have are hugely exciting. I always found it so interesting seeing how each partner would leverage their rights in new and innovative ways through the Arsenal lens.
I found the role on the Arsenal Careers website, and the more I read about it, the more I knew it was the right fit for me. The recruitment process was thorough but really enjoyable and engaging - it really gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills and personality.
After I initially applied, I was contacted by a member of the Talent team for a phone screening. They talked me through the role and asked me a few questions about my experience and how I saw myself fitting into the Partner Services team. Following that, I had two further interviews before being offered the role that I'm in now. The process was really smooth, and the Talent team were always available for a chat and answer any questions I had.
Tell us what a typical day looks like in your role?
The Partner Services team sits at the intersection of strategy and relationship management. My role involves ensuring our partners see real value from their association with Arsenal - which could be through activations, digital campaigns, hospitality or community work to name a few.
On a typical day, I might be working with a partner to develop a campaign or idea, collaborating with the Brand Marketing or Comms teams on an upcoming shoot, or over at the Emirates getting things ready for a matchday. Ultimately, it’s about making sure our partners are happy and how we can deliver real impact for them; but every day is different!
What's your favourite thing about your role?
I think being part of a partner campaign and watching it go through the life cycle of a brainstorming session or a presentation on a screen, to finally coming to life at an activation or a social media rollout is hugely satisfying to be a part of. Particularly when Arsenal is so linked to culture and community, it gives our partners huge inspiration to work collaboratively with us to bring memorable moments for them and our supporters.
I think it's also something that I'll look back at very proudly over the course of my career. Working in sport or at a football club is a privilege in itself, but being a part of Arsenal at such an exciting time in their history is special.
What are the three main skills needed to be a Partner Services Manager at Arsenal?
The way you manage relationships is so important, as it allows you to keep your partners moving in the right direction and build momentum as you travel through a season. Our team always work so collaboratively with other departments in the business, and you then meet colleagues who can help you elevate your partnerships and campaigns to the next level.
You need to be creatively minded and really push yourself to view things from a partner's perspective. This will lead you to a better outcome in the long run.
It sounds cliched, but project management and time management. At times you will be spinning a load of plates and have multiple partners activating at the same time, so you need to be organised.

Immerse yourself in the sports industry and understand how different rights holders and agencies are leveraging their partnerships. Keep an eye on other football clubs and what they are doing, and think about what you would change and improve upon if given the chance.
I also completed the ESA Diploma which was an incredibly useful qualification and allows you to learn a huge amount about sponsorship and sports marketing from industry leaders.
