Life at Arsenal For Morgan
Why did you want to work with us at Arsenal and how did you apply/find your role?
I joined Arsenal way back in 2006, fresh faced out of 6th form with not many qualifications. I saw a role in the Stadium Management team and decided to apply for it. After a successful interview I jumped at the chance to work for the club I’ve loved from the age of 6! You could feel from the get-go that the club values its employees, and that there's a strong sense of belonging to the Arsenal family. The recruitment process for me was a simple one, LinkedIn didn’t even exist back then!
Tell us what a typical day looks like in your role?
Being in a dynamic role makes it quite hard to describe a typical day. The Security team at the stadium covers all major events, everything from matchdays to concerts, and functions to compliance. We’re usually the first people that guests/fans/contractors see when they
come to the stadium so being that friendly face and giving that positive first impression of the club is central to our role. For me, I’m supervising a team of guards ensuring that all of our patrol targets are met, all compliance is adhered to by staff/contractors and making sure that every single person in this stadium is kept safe.
What's your favourite thing about your role?
The best thing about my role is working with a team full of diverse backgrounds and beliefs. Also, nothing beats working on matchday, feeling the buzz of the fans in the build-up to the game. 18 and a half years and I still get that buzz.
What are the three main skills needed to be a Security Shift Supervisor at Arsenal?
Good communication skills are key as I’m in a customer facing role, and that helps
dealing with other departments throughout our club. Patience also helps with that!! I’d also say adaptability is key for my role, as the days can change quite quickly so the ability to react in those situations is always helpful.
