Senior Media Services Engineer
An exciting opportunity to act as our technical leader within the Media Services team, striving for seamless delivery across our content and supporting our Media and Editorial teams.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Media Services Engineer to support our Senior Media Services Manager by maintaining and optimising our media infrastructure as well as providing mentoring and guidance to our Engineers.
You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of matchday and non-matchday content, playing a crucial role in troubleshooting live event production and working with our broadcast and media systems to ensure content distribution to various platforms.
In this role you will be required to provide your technical expertise across matchdays, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per our club’s fixture schedule.

Your day-to-day
- Mentor and support our teams - you will proudly deliver guidance and technical support to our Media Services Engineers, providing best practice and troubleshooting guides to enhance the team’s knowledge as well as develop system management skills
- Act as a technical lead - you’ll attentively ensure seamless integration across various platforms, managing our media infrastructure and workflows with the ability to lead on resolving complex issues, minimising downtime and ensuring alternative solutions are implemented efficiently
- Maintain equipment standards - you will manage all media equipment across our TV studio, post-production suites and recording facilities, ensuring all is maintained to a high standard as well as collaborating with venders and service providers to maintain and upgrade our technology
- Improve and optimise our systems - you’ll oversee and strive for improvements in our digital video workflows, media asset management and live streaming services
- Oversee matchdays and live events - you will provide on-site support during matchdays and events, overseeing end-to-end delivery of content, satellite feeds and media contribution formats, ensuring high-quality feeds for supporters, broadcasters, and third-party platforms whilst actively managing troubleshoot technical issues
- Manage our systems and infrastructure - you’ll take a lead on the installation, configuration and commissioning of new media equipment and software solutions, working alongside our IT teams to ensure the security and stability of all media systems
What we are looking for
- Background in a similar technical role - you have a deep level of experience in media technology, broadcast engineering or digital video workflows
- Technical expertise - you confidently possess strong knowledge of broadcast video formats, encoding standards and transmission protocols as well as hands-on experience with live streaming, digital video workflows, and content delivery networks (CDNs)
- Best-in-class system knowledge - you're well versed in working with media assets management systems and non-linear editing (NLE) software (Adobe Premiere Pro desired) and you have an understanding of IP-based video contribution, networking principles, and cloud-based media workflows
- A natural resolver - you have a problem-solving mindset with strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues as well as a proven background handling real-time troubleshooting for encoders, playout systems and media automation tools in a live production environment
- Dynamic communicator - you are confident in communicating technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
- Courageous mentor and team player - you have the ability to take the lead to guide and support junior Engineers with a collaborative approach for a cross-functional team whilst working closely with senior management
- Proactive mindset - you are passionate in emerging broadcast and media technologies with the ability to anticipate issues and take pre-emptive action to minimise disruption
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail - you back your ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy, being able to deliver projects under tight deadlines and within budget
